Round 2 Wrap up 2025
Round 2 2025.
What a weekend of rugby! Started off with a tough Friday night encounter by the U15s. Unfortunately ending in defeat.
Saturday was a new day! Junior sides played across the coast in some tough battles of their own. All playing in great spirits!
Once midday came around, our seniors began to arrive at the club prior to their first encounters of the year. Rain in preseason cancelled the only planned trial in Toowoomba.
Come 2pm, Reserve Grade had hit the field to kick off their campaign. New coaches Sam Miller and Jason Roles had a tough week with selections as all our seniors squad put in great efforts over preseason. The crowd was treated to some exciting rugby with the ball flowing end to end. Caloundra were off to a hot start before our Reggies dug in for a few classy tries of their own. Highlighted by a brilliant try in the corner to inside centre Lewi Ottaway. A game that went the full 80, our Reggies unfortunately falling late 28-24.
The rain cleared up and A Grade hit the field with returning captain Luke Kimber leading the boys through the tunnel. Another tough selection process for the coaches saw a familiar line up to start our season with 3 club debutant’s in the starting side. The battle began.
What a battle it was! Slippery conditions didn’t slow either side down as the crowd were treated to some expansive running rugby and some brilliant try scoring. Caloundra took a slight lead into half time before our Barbarians started the second half with a bang. Making his club debut from the bench saw Junior Sisa scored two tries on the right wing.
Caloundra fought for the whole 80 also. Hounding the Bahbahs line for the final period of the game. The Bahbahs defense held fierce and held on for a 29-24 victory!
Congratulations with debutant Landry Bezombes who was awarded the Chris Porter’s Shield for Man of the Match.
Our seniors head back to training for their next match up verse Brothers on Saturday 10th
