How to Become a Coach
Queensland Rugby is committed to educating coaches within the community and conducts courses throughout the state. All courses are professionally staffed and all instructors receive specialist training in ARU course delivery. Courses are specifically designed for the age of the players and the experience of the coaches.

Coaching Courses
Smart Rugby (Safety course mandatory for all coaches and referees)
Coaching Kids Rugby (Seminar for coaches involved in Pathway Rugby. SmartRugby is included in this course)
Level 1 (Foundation) Course (Entry level course for coaches involved in U13 – Seniors. The course focuses on laws, technical skills/drills and effective coaching practice. SmartRugby is included in this course. Level 1 Coach assessments and exam also conducted on the day)
Level 1 Coaching Accreditation (Available without attending a course if you are already SmartRugby compliant. Complete the registration form, the online Laws & Safety exam, and arrange a field assessment)
Level 2 Coaching Course & Accreditation (Intermediate level course focusing on developing a coach’s tactical knowledge of the game)
Advanced Coaching Seminars (Presentations by professional coaches on the current practices involved in the game)
Level 3 Coaching Program (ARU coaching program designed for coaches involved at premier/representative level)
